Point of Interconnection (POI)

Definition

The specific physical location on the transmission system where a generating facility's output is injected into the grid, typically a high-voltage bus or substation. The Point of Interconnection is the boundary between the Interconnection Customer's generating facilities and the Transmission Provider's transmission system and is a key determinant of the cost, feasibility, and required upgrades for interconnection.
