Generator Interconnection

Large Generating Facility

Definition

A Generating Facility having a Generating Facility Capacity of more than 20 MW. Large Generating Facilities must follow the Large Generator Interconnection Procedures (LGIP) and execute a Standard Large Generator Interconnection Agreement (LGIA), rather than the simpler Small Generator Interconnection Procedures (SGIP). The 20 MW threshold was established by FERC Order 2003 to create two distinct interconnection procedural tracks based on project size.
