Generator Interconnection Agreement (GIA)

Definition

The legally binding contract between the Interconnection Customer, Transmission Provider, and Transmission Owner that specifies all terms and conditions for the physical connection of a generating facility to the transmission grid. The GIA includes technical specifications for Interconnection Facilities, construction milestone schedules, cost assignments for Network Upgrades, financial security requirements, and the rights and obligations of all parties.
