Ancillary Services

Generator Imbalance Service

Definition

An ancillary service defined in Schedule 9 of the OATT that corrects for differences between the scheduled output of a generator located within the Transmission Provider's Control Area and its actual delivery to another Control Area or an in-area load over a single hour. Unlike Energy Imbalance Service (which addresses load-side deviations), Generator Imbalance Service targets generation-side scheduling errors. Deviations within ±1.5% (min 2 MW) are settled at 100% of cost; deviations of ±1.5–7.5% are penalized at 110%/90% of incremental/decremental cost; deviations beyond ±7.5% are settled at 125%/75%, creating financial incentives for accurate generator scheduling.
