Generating Facility

Definition

The Interconnection Customer's device(s) for the production and/or storage for later injection of electricity identified in the Interconnection Request, not including the Interconnection Customer's Interconnection Facilities. Under the LGIP, a Generating Facility is classified as a Large Generating Facility (more than 20 MW) or Small Generating Facility (20 MW or less), which determines whether the LGIP or the simpler SGIP procedures apply. Technology types include conventional synchronous generators, photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and other grid-connected Energy Storage (Grid) resources that inject power at the point of interconnection.
