Generator Interconnection

Feasibility Study

Definition

The Feasibility Study was the initial, high-level screening study conducted in the former serial LGIP process to assess whether there were obvious impediments to a proposed generator's interconnection at a requested Point of Interconnection, providing a preliminary estimate of required Network Upgrades and identifying fatal flaws. Under FERC Order No. 2023 (effective 2024), the standalone Feasibility Study was eliminated and replaced by the Cluster Study Process, which evaluates interconnection impacts for groups of projects studied simultaneously rather than individually in sequence. This term may still appear in legacy interconnection agreements and pre-Order 2023 queue proceedings.
