Facilities Study (Interconnection — Legacy Serial Process)

Definition

The Facilities Study was the final engineering study in the prior serial LGIP process, providing detailed design specifications and cost estimates for all Interconnection Facilities identified in the System Impact Study. Under FERC Order No. 2023, the standalone Facilities Study was replaced by the Interconnection Facilities Study, which performs the same function — detailed design and cost estimation — but follows a Cluster Study rather than a serial SIS. The term Facilities Study may still appear in legacy interconnection agreements and pre-Order 2023 transitional queue proceedings.
