Commercial Operation Date (COD)

Definition

The date on which a generating facility is first capable of producing power at its contracted level and begins commercial electricity sales, following the completion of all construction, testing, and commissioning activities. Under the LGIP, the COD is as agreed to by the Parties pursuant to Appendix E to the Standard Large Generator Interconnection Agreement. Failure to meet agreed-upon milestone dates may trigger escalating deposits, financial penalties, or queue withdrawal provisions.
