Order 792 — Small Generator Interconnection Update (2013)

Definition

Updated the Small Generator Interconnection Procedures (SGIP) and Small Generator Interconnection Agreement (SGIA) to better accommodate emerging distributed energy resources — including solar photovoltaic, fuel cells, and energy storage co-located with generation — technologies that were not contemplated in the original Order 2006 framework. Clarified how the fast-track and simplified review processes apply to diverse DER types and revised technical requirements to reflect evolution of the distributed generation market. These updates continued the streamlining of interconnection for sub-20 MW resources while ensuring technical standards kept pace with rapidly changing DER characteristics.
