Seasonal Line Rating

Definition

A Transmission Line Rating defined in Attachment M that applies to a specified season (at least four per year) and reflects a forecast of ambient temperature across that season, updated annually or more frequently. Transmission Providers must use Seasonal Line Ratings for non-near-term service evaluations (beyond 10 days), for Network Resource designations and changes, and as a recourse rating when an Ambient-Adjusted Rating is unavailable. Seasonal ratings replaced the prior practice of using fixed, conservative static ratings that often understated true line capacity.
