Transfer Capability & ATC

Flowgate

Definition

A specific transmission element (line, transformer, or monitored interface) or group of elements whose power flow is used as a constraint in determining transfer capability. Flowgates are identified in System Impact Studies when a particular element limits the amount of service that can be accommodated. The Transmission Provider must identify constrained flowgates with specificity in its System Impact Study results and on OASIS, enabling customers to understand exactly which facility is the binding constraint on their requested service.
