Capacity Benefit Margin (CBM)

Definition

The amount of transmission transfer capability reserved by load-serving entities to ensure access to generation from interconnected systems to meet their generation reliability (resource adequacy) requirements. CBM allows a load zone to import capacity from another area to count toward meeting its reliability obligation and is set aside from ATC calculations.
