Transmission Services

Curtailment

Definition

A reduction in the scheduled capacity or energy delivery of a Transmission Customer, ordered by the Transmission Provider for reliability or operational reasons. Under the OATT, firm service can only be curtailed after all non-firm service has already been interrupted, while non-firm service may be curtailed at any time at the Transmission Provider's discretion. Curtailment priority follows the hierarchy: non-firm first, then short-term firm, then long-term firm.
