Generator Interconnection

Large Generator Interconnection Procedures (LGIP)

Definition

The standardized procedures established by FERC Order 2003 governing how large generating facilities (typically 20 MW or larger) connect to the electric transmission grid. The LGIP defines the study process, cost allocation rules, contractual milestones, and queue management procedures for interconnection, ensuring non-discriminatory access to the transmission grid for new generators.
