Transmission Owner

Definition

The entity that owns the physical facilities used for the transmission of electric energy in interstate commerce. The Transmission Owner may or may not be the same entity as the Transmission Provider; in RTO/ISO markets, the Transmission Owner typically retains ownership of physical assets while the RTO/ISO operates the system and administers the tariff.
