Regional Transmission Group (RTG)

Definition

A voluntary organization of transmission owners, transmission users, and other entities approved by the Commission to efficiently coordinate transmission planning (and expansion), operation, and use on a regional (and interregional) basis. RTGs were an early FERC concept; their functions are now largely performed by FERC-approved Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) and Independent System Operators (ISOs).
