Reciprocity

Definition

The OATT obligation under Section 6 requiring any Transmission Customer receiving transmission service to provide comparable open-access transmission service over its own facilities on similar terms and conditions. Reciprocity applies to all parties in a transaction — the buyer, seller, and any power marketer intermediary — and extends to transmission facilities owned by their corporate affiliates. A customer that does not own transmission facilities must include a sworn statement in its Application that its request is not designed to help an affiliate avoid the reciprocity obligation.
