Native Load Customers

Definition

The wholesale and retail power customers on whose behalf a Transmission Provider, by statute, franchise, regulatory requirement, or contract, has an obligation to construct and operate its transmission system. Transmission Providers may reserve transmission capacity to meet their native load obligations before making remaining capacity available to other customers, reflecting the provider's prior commitment to serve its existing customers.
