Direct Assignment Facilities

Definition

Facilities or portions of facilities constructed by the Transmission Provider for the sole use and benefit of a particular Transmission Customer requesting service under the Tariff. Unlike Network Upgrades — which benefit all users of the transmission system and are eligible for cost-sharing — Direct Assignment Facilities are charged entirely to the requesting customer because no other party benefits from them. In interconnection contexts, costs for Direct Assignment Facilities built solely to accommodate a particular generator are assigned entirely to that Interconnection Customer without broader cost allocation. They must be specified in the Service Agreement and are subject to Commission approval.
