Net electricity generation in Austria totaled 71,642 GWh in 2025 (OECD/IEA Monthly Electricity Statistics: Generation (MESGEN) net generation statistics). Rank among mapped countries: #25. Renewable share: 77.1%.
Monthly reporting does not include production from geothermal and solar, therefore it is estimated by the IEA Secretariat based on annual submission since January 2003. The last coal power plant in Austria closed in April 2020. From then on, coal production comes from autoproducer CHP plants and is mainly from coal products.
